{"id":922,"date":"2021-09-14T19:36:12","date_gmt":"2021-09-14T17:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lvbprint.de\/?p=922"},"modified":"2022-08-03T09:26:26","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T07:26:26","slug":"mail-merge-splitting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lvbprint.de\/en\/2021\/09\/14\/mail-merge-splitting\/","title":{"rendered":"SPLViewer: Split mail merge document into individual print jobs when printing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I could hardly believe that Word does not offer a way (at least I found nothing except for various macros) to split a mail merge letter into individual print jobs when printing.<\/p>\n<p>OpenOffice seems to have a way to do this (but it seems to be disabled in version 4.1.10).<br><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ooowiki.de\/SerienDruck.html\" rel=\"noopener\">SerienDruck &#8211; Archiv des LibreOffice- und OpenOffice.org-Wiki (ooowiki.de)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Such a function is useful if the letters are to be archived individually or perhaps PDFs are to be generated from them.<\/p>\n<p>There is a fairly simple way to achieve the functionality with SPLViewer.<\/p>\n<p>The only requirement is that the printer in question spools in EMF format, i.e. uses version 3 drivers.<\/p>\n<p>The following document offers help on page 5 to find a suitable driver:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvbprint.de\/files\/printmulti\/PrintMulti_Quick_Guide_Troubleshooting_en.pdf\">PrintMulti_Quick_Guide_Troubleshooting_de.pdf (lvbprint.de)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stop the printer.<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Activate \"Do not delete print jobs after printing\" in the advanced print settings (otherwise Windows will choose a name for the print job that SPLViewer will not recognize). <br>Alternatively, you can also specify a different spool directory for the printer (how to do this is described here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvbprint.de\/en\/splviewer\/\" target=\"_self\">SPLViewer)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Print your mail merge document on the paused printer as usual.<\/li>\n<li>Open the SPLViewer.
